Change of plans

Well this is not how I originally planned it, but here I am in caracas really early.
I felt I need to work on my education and learn spanish. So in an hour im getting on a bus to merida where I will sign up for spanish classes. I hope this will open up new doors for my future.
I feel really bad that I had to split ways with Angela. I will help her in any way that I can for the juration of the trip. We are planning to meet up again at some point in venezuela. Sorry if I dissapointed anyone.
Take care Steve

Rio De Janerio

Ahh Rio, what a cool city.
the first night here we went to the most amazing buffet, you go to the salad bar, get what you want, they about five different people come around with skewers with huge chunks of meat, it was so good especially the chicken hearts.
The next day I went for lunch with my friend dawna, ran into her australian friend. then went up to the top of sugar loaf to watch the sunset, we missed the sun by minutes. It was amazing to see rio at that height at night. All the lights through the hills and the silence of the city, all you could hear was the waves crashing on the beach.
Tomorrow I am going diving to get certified, then Angela and I are going to try and get into a football game. I cant wait

talk to you later

Paraty

We have finally arrived in Paraty, Brasil, after a 22 hour bus ride!!! This is a beautiful beach town with welcoming and ethnic shops and resaurants everywhere. It is too hot at plus 31 or so. We are shocked by the prices of everything actually being more expesive than in Canada!! I rented a bike and went out 10km or so in search of waterfalls with another travellor this morning. We never did find them, but seen tremendous sceneory anyway! We just got back from a 4km walk to a nice beach and now are taking a 40min bus ride to 4 other beaches.
Take care all!

Iguazu Falls

Hola
The last couple of days were much better, I felt awesome. Which made today alot of fun. We went back over to Argentina to Iguazu Falls and went for a light boat ride and went swimming this was refreshing. Then the real fun started, we got to go in a big power boat which went right into the waterfalls we couldnt see anything but white water it was amazing and very wet. then we went for a good walk.
Today was lots of fun too, Angela and I went repelling off the brazilian side of the river which gave a great view of the waterfalls. Then I went off on my own on a canopy tour which was like an obsticle course, the I went on a climbing wall for a couple of hours. I got to meet a really cool local girl, Wanusa. It was a awesome day.

see you later steve.

We need to learn Portuguese now

The last couple of days have been quite eventful.
First we went to puerto la este, which was a beutiful beach, and kind of a celebrity town . The weather was overcast and windy, but we had fun with it anyway, we got to see kite boarders which was really cool, I cant wait to try it.
Then we went to a little city which I cant remember the name of right now, which was quite amazing, we unexpectedly ran into a carnival festival with fantastic dancers and talented musicians. The next day we went to natural hot springs and relaxed. We needed this because we went on a 11 hour night bus, I was sick to my stomace, angela wasnt feeling the hottest either.
Today we entered Brazil which is Portuguese a new language, I was so sick I stayed in the hotel and everybody went to the worlds biggest dam, too bad I missed it but I hear it was spectacular.
Im feeling a bit better now and hopefully im better tomorrow.

Buenos dias

Holla Amigos! We spent yesterday in a small town called Colonia in Uruguay. It was sooooo beautiful!!!! Very historic with cobblestone streets and gorgeous architecture. We rented scooters and burned around along the beach coastline. Yes, we got a lot of pictures! At night we marched along with a band of 20 people on bongo drums playing and dancing down the street. There was a grandma with a cane and children as young as 1 or 2 dancing in the streets to celebrate Carnival. We are now in Montevideo, which is the capital of Uruguay. So far, we LOVE South America!!!

tour buenos aries

We toured parts of Buenos Aries today on our own, which was challenging, as noone speaks English. We got lost once trying to take the bus to another touristy area, but eventually found it. It is a beautiful city but too big for my taste (3 million people in the city and 12 million if you include the suburbs). Very interesting place though, so different than Calgary. So much to see and learn. We leave for Uruguay tomorrow at 0930 via bus and ferry. Hope all is well in Canada! To my family: I miss and love you all!
